Host: City of San Antonio, Office of Innovation
The Office of Innovation was established in 2007 to identify improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of City of San Antonio services and business processes. The primary functions of the Office are to improve City operations, manage special projects, and lead major initiatives, while promoting a culture of innovation. The Smart Cities team was established in 2017 and is charged with leveraging new and emerging technologies and data to improve the quality of life for residents. Their objective is for San Antonio to be a people-centered smart city that is connected, inclusive, and resilient. |
Port San Antonio is a thriving 1,900-acre technology innovation campus and home to over 80 employers and 15,000 workers. Among them are leading global and locally-based names in aerospace, cybersecurity, robotics, applied technologies, space science and Department of Defense operations. Here, people connect with life-changing educational, career and entrepreneurial opportunities. In partnership with stakeholders across the region and beyond, the Port is a unique platform where people are developing and launching transformative technologies that make the world a more resilient, productive and safer place. To accelerate this momentum, in 2022 the organization will launch Tech Port Center + Arena: an innovation and entertainment destination where a technology museum / showroom, events arena, classrooms, a collaborative prototyping lab, and a LAN center will host an array of activities that will amplify the Port’s efforts to connect people with opportunities, connect industries with educators, and connect innovators with regional, national and global markets. |
